Some Brown County supervisors ignore public’s emails

GREEN BAY – Some Brown County supervisors have gone years without using their official county email addresses, Doug Schneider of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.

Of those regularly not using their official accounts, Andy Nicholson has gone the longest. Nicholson last used his account in March 2015, opting instead to communicate via an AOL account. Tom De Wane, who prefers Gmail, last used his official account in December 2015. John Vander Leest is coming up on two years without using his account, choosing to have the county route his emails to a Yahoo! account instead.

Using the personal email accounts is not illegal, but it is strongly discouraged by technology experts and open government advocates.
