NORFOLK, Va. – The Vilas County News-Review received six awards last week in the National Newspaper Association’s 2018 Better Newspaper Contest, including second place in General Excellence.
The News-Review also won second-place awards for Best Local News Coverage and Best Use of Photographs. It earned third place for Best Single Ad Idea (Black and White), and also received honorable mention awards for Best Editorial Pages and Best Photo Essay.
Competing in the non-daily division for newspapers with a circulation of 6,000 to 9,999, the News-Review was the only Wisconsin newspaper to win a General Excellence award in the NNA contest. It previously earned honorable mention in the category in 2013 and took second place in 2001.
