City of Monroe rewrites open records, meetings code

MONROE – Following a public hearing that garnered no public attendance, the Monroe City Council recently adopted new open meetings and public records policies, The Monroe Times reported. There was no discussion.

The updates provided an avenue allowing the council to release information about votes or discussion occuring during closed sessions. Previously, the city prohibited such release.

The council also approved updates regarding public records processes, including a provision allowing for a summary of information to be released in response to a records request instead of the respoonsive documents.
