Diane Niemeyer, who worked for 32 years at the Daily Jefferson County Union in Fort Atkinson, died Thursday, Jan. 31. She was 71.
Niemeyer, a Menomonie High School and UW-Whitewater graduate, spent a year teaching in Whitewater public schools before beginning her newspaper career. She retired in 2013 as marketing director at the Daily Union.
Friends and family remember Niemeyer as a “true friend” with an infectious laugh, an empathetic heart and a gentle, loving manner. She had two children and six grandchildren who “were everything to her.”
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fort Atkinson. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service begins.
