Elizabeth “Liz” Wing, a New York native who worked as a reporter for the Milwaukee Journal in the 1950s, died Wednesday, Jan. 30. She was 87.
Wing, who had relatives in Waunakee, was hired at the Milwaukee Journal in 1953 after graduating from Smith College. While in Milwaukee, she met her future husband, Rick Wing, who was the City Hall reporter for the Journal.
The Wings married in 1954 and moved around the country for several years before settling in La Crosse in 1969. In La Crosse, Wing operated her own advertising and public relations agency and also did freelance writing for local newspapers and magazines.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 18, in the community room of the Riverplace Apartments in La Crosse.
