Milwaukee Press Club announces award finalists

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Press Club on Monday announced its finalists for the annual MPC Awards for Excellence in Wisconsin Journalism. The full list of finalists is available here.

Several Wisconsin Newspaper Association member newspapers are among the finalists, including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Now News Group, and Madison’s The Cap Times and Wisconsin State Journal. Award winners will be announced May 10 at the club’s Gridiron Awards event at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.

Chuck Todd, moderator of NBC’s Meet the Press, also will be honored at the event with the Sacred Cat Award, which is given for journalism achievement at a national level.

MPC also will give out its annual Headliner Awards, which go those who are making a positive difference in Wisconsin. This year’s honorees are former Wisconsin Gov. Martin Schreiber and Mary Lou Young, former CEO of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.
