BELOIT – Clara Neupert, a junior at UW-Eau Claire, was selected as the 2019 Devroy Fellowship winner and will serve as an intern for three weeks at The Washington Post in January 2020.

Neupert, a graduate of Beloit Turner High School, recently spoke with the Beloit Daily News about the honor. Last month, fellow Turner alumnus Erica Jones — the 2018 Devroy Fellow — presented Neupert with the honor.

In addition to the Post internship, Neupert will be eligible to apply for an internship at a Wisconsin newspaper in summer 2020. She told the Daily News that she wants to pursue a career in radio journalism.

The Ann Devroy Memorial Fellowship, named for the UW-Eau Claire graduate and former Washington Post journalist who died of cancer in 1997 at age 49, is awarded each year to one promising journalism student.
