DEFOREST – Longtime journalist Sam Martino will present a newspaper-based look at historical events at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the DeForest Area Community & Senior Center.
Martino worked for the Associated Press and Minneapolis Tribune before spending the final 28 years of his journalism career at The Milwaukee Journal. After leaving newspapers, Martino spent 12 years teaching at UW-Whitewater, where he also advised the Royal Purple student newspaper.
In his presentation, Martino will share a personal collection of original newspapers from historical events, including two world wars, the Great Depression, the Cold War, space exploration and more. The program promises to take its audience “on a trip through the events that shaped our world.”
