Feiner earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University, where he studied sports broadcasting and journalism. While in college, he also played two years of NCAA Division I baseball for the school and served as sports editor for the Western Courier student newspaper.

Most recently, Feiner worked as a sports reporter at Sauk Valley Media in Sterling, Ill. His coverage for Sauk Valley included 17 high schools, Sauk Valley Community College and the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic golf tournament.

Feiner takes over the role from Jeremy Jones, who retired earlier this month after more than 15 years as UNG sports editor. He will work alongside assistant sports editor Mark Nesbitt, who is a Sterling native.

UNG includes four newspapers in the Madison area: the Oregon Observer, Verona Press, Stoughton Courier Hub and Fitchburg Star.
