Former Oshkosh, Fond du Lac journalist Mary Ann Schultz dies at 94

Mary Ann Katherine (Parr) Schultz, who once served as president of the Wisconsin Presswomen’s Association, died Tuesday, July 23. She was 94.

Schultz was born Nov. 19, 1924, to Silas Leonard and Olga E. (Jensen) Parr. She graduated in 1942 from Oshkosh High School, where she worked on the school newspaper. After high school, she attended Oshkosh Business College.

Following a stint at Oshkosh Paper, Schultz was hired as a writer/editor for the Oshkosh Northwestern. Her primary coverage area was military news.

In June 1946, she married Roland W. Schultz, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. After the wedding, they settled in Fond du Lac, where they had three sons, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann returned to the newspaper industry in the early 1960s, working on the staff of The Reporter in Fond du Lac. She remained at The Reporter for more than a decade.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Twohig Funeral Home in Fond du Lac. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the start of the service.
