Malewitz will help run the Wisconsin Watch newsroom along with Managing Editor Dee J. Hall and Digital and Multimedia Director Coburn Dukehart. Wisconsin Watch expects that adding Malewitz to its leadership team will expand the number and range of its investigative reports.

Most recently, Malewitz served as an environmental reporter for Bridge Magazine, a nonprofit news outlet in Michigan. Previous stops for Malewitz include four years as a reporter for The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit in Austin, and two years as a staff writer for Stateline.org, a nonprofit news service in Washington, D.C., that is part of The Pew Charitable Trusts.

Malewitz earned his undergraduate degree in political science and global development studies at Grinnell College in Iowa. He went on to receive his master’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa, during which time he helped launch the Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism. Malewitz currently serves on the Iowa Center’s board of directors.
