National Newspaper Week starts Sunday: Here’s how you can celebrate with us

Is your newspaper ready? The 78th annual National Newspaper Week is just days away.

This year’s event runs Sunday, Oct. 7 through Saturday, Oct. 13. The theme — “Journalism matters. NOW more than ever.” — aims to highlight the important work journalists do on behalf of their communities every day.

So, what does this mean for you? Celebrate with us by reminding readers why your newspaper matters. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Write an editorial highlighting the impact your publication has on the community.
  • Run house ads introducing readers to your journalists and what they do.
  • Host a Q&A session with subscribers over coffee and doughnuts.
  • Offer newsroom tours to students from local schools.
  • Encourage social media followers to share why journalism matters to them.

Have an idea that we missed? Share it with us!
