The La Crosse Tribune is seeking an experienced, digitally savvy journalist who can report on our communities – how they grow, how they develop and how they collaborate (or not).
The beat involves both city and county government, but this is not a typical government beat because this isn’t a typical region.
It’s a beautiful region with its largest city hemmed in by a river, bluffs and neighboring municipal borders.
Because of that, La Crosse has worked hard to redevelop aging neighborhoods and infrastructure while continuing to foster the growth of world-class health care and quality K-12 and a technical college and two universities.
It progresses with strong partnerships with health care, education and other partners.
The Tribune is looking for someone comfortable telling nuanced stories of complex public projects, as well as personal stories of how local policies affect local people. The ideal candidate will be skilled at developing sources in organizations that don’t always get along and able to translate complicated, sometimes technical city policies into coverage accessible to everyone.
We need someone adept at Facebook Live and podcasting, as well as database reporting.
The La Crosse Tribune offers full benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401K, life insurance options, as well as a generous paid time off policy.
